The Palestinian Association of Local Authorities Organizes a Training on Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals into Municipal Budgets

(APLA) organized a training titled “Integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into Municipal Budgets”, with the participation of 43 representatives from the Financial Management Platform. The training aimed to develop practical tools that help municipalities prepare budgets aligned with SDG indicators, thereby promoting transparency in resource management and supporting data-driven decision-making for more efficient and sustainable local development.

The training included three sessions. The main session introduced the methodology for mainstreaming the SDGs into local budgets, covering mechanisms for SDG coding and linking goals to budget lines, in addition to standardizing an Excel model for data entry and analysis through practical exercises. Special focus was given to Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). The follow-up session reviewed and analyzed the data entered by municipalities, strengthened participants’ capacity to prepare periodic SDG-related financial reports, and trained them on collecting indicators for other priority goals — reinforcing the integration between financial planning and development performance monitoring within local governments.
