APLA has led the efforts to adopt global agendas, particularly the 2030 Agenda related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in this manner, APLA has developed a plan to localize SDGs at the local level. This plan encompasses four key pillars:
-Enhancing awareness of Sustainable Development Goals.
-Building the capacities of local authorities to adopt Sustainable Development Goals.
-Supporting LGUs initiatives to implement Sustainable Development Goals.
-Monitoring and measuring the contributions of Palestinian local authorities towards achieving these goals.
In addition to developing this plan, APLA has established a portal for Sustainable Development Goals. This website showcases relevant Palestinian initiatives related to SDGs and presents monitoring indicators to gauge the extent to which Palestinian cities align with achieving these goals at the local level.
The primary aim of these efforts by APLA is to open opportunities and avenues for Palestinian local authorities to engage in global initiatives and leverage available opportunities to implement priority programs and activities. The launch of the plan and the dedicated website for Sustainable Development Goals is scheduled to take place in the near future.
It's worth mentioning that this plan is part of a project funded by the Belgian Development Agency, Enabel, which revolves around localizing Sustainable Development Goals and increasing awareness.
